Hi! Though we say "no risk no fun" I wouldn't try to fix it!!!! In the case of an accident it could be the belt wouldn't lock agin. Inside of it there's a hook, supported by a centrifugal mechanics. Surely you can fix it I wouldn't rely on it. ho.

I made the same experience sevral times and got a bit nervous like you do. BUT: To my knowledge (all?) American cars carry belts which engage only when the car itself is twisted or tilt a bit. My belts at least proved to work properly in corresponding situations. So - either, you try to create such a situation for testing, or you just accept and live with it. Perhaps you try it on a bumpy road - it should work.
