New engine to my Le baron

Hi boys. Last yeah i bought my Lebaron 1989 2.5. On the moment im doing body but ive got a problem with engine. 2.5l. petrol 105 that on enough for my car. Im thinking about bigger and faster engine. Do u know maybe what other engine i can use plug ang play? Regards

What about street legality? Is that necessary? For which state?

There is no real way to change the engine to a stronger one. The 2.5 engine was also available turbo charged. But beside a complete turbo-engine you would need another gearbox, other dirveaxels, another electronic engine-controller and some more parts. All this parts you would also need to change the engine vor a V6-engine (mostly only available with autoimatic transaxle).

The only possible seems to get another Le Baron (or Saratoga, Dodge Spirit, Plymouth Acclaim, maybe an accident-car) with the engine, you are looking for and change all the parts.
